Flavors of the Region – Jura Family Business Meeting

The Jura family business meeting "Among the Flavors of the Region" took place in Zawiercie on October 4, 2014, with the support of the Family Business Initiative and was held under the slogan "Let's connect as a family with a conscious approach to nutrition, health, and tradition."
The organizers were local entrepreneurs and representatives of family businesses: Dominika Chmurska SILMACH (www.silmach.com.pl) and Łukasz Rotarski ANRO (www.anro.net.pl).

The first part was a family discussion panel, during which the topic of globalized food – genetically modified and the potential effects of such actions on health – was discussed. The key point as an alternative to global actions was to focus on the growing interest in the market for traditional food and the possibilities of direct cooperation with local farmers and local food producers, who are predominantly family businesses.

The second part of the meeting was a mini-fair of traditional and organic products, during which we could continue to reflect on the local product from the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura.

Among the presenting producers were, among others: the "OdRolnika.pl" group, "Pożegnanie z Afryką" family from Krakow, "Piekarnia MACH" from Zawiercie, "Garbaciak" Ecological Dairy Goat Farm from Włodowice, "Gospodarstwo Pasieczne Poraj" with Jura honeys, Eko Produkt Kubara from Częstochowa, Browar na Jurze from Zawiercie, African Ostrich Farm from Kiełkowice, and the "Natura i Zdrowie" health food store from Zawiercie.

Producers and manufacturers from the Jura are not yet widely known, but their products are already showing up at competitions, reviews, or fairs organized in Lesser Poland and Silesia. Traveling from any corner of Poland, it is worth stopping in these beautiful surroundings, feasting your eyes on the landscapes, and treating your palate to the flavors of the Jura. The enthusiastic reception of the Jura initiative signaled that it is worth organizing locally, as a family, and deliciously from time to time!
